What we need from Buhari- Niger Delta


THE Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice, CEPEJ, Delta State, has said that what the people of Niger Delta require from President Muhammadu Buhari was constructive engagement .
Coordinator of the group, Sheriff Mulade, in a statement, applauding Niger Delta monarchs, leaders and stakeholders for the successful consultative meeting, last Friday, in Effurun, near Warri, said: “What we need now is constructive engagement with the Federal Government since President Muhammadu Buhari has considered dialogue as the best option.”
He advised stakeholders to engage government to find a lasting solution to the lingering quest for development towards ending militancy.
Mulade also urged all militant groups on the Niger Delta region to give peace a chance by adhering to the call by Niger Delta monarchs, leaders and stakeholders.
He asserted: “I want to strongly advise and appeal to the Federal Government to withdraw all security agents in the communities and station them at strategic location within oil installation to give confident to the people.”
“We know that successive government have neglected, deprived and undeveloped the region in spite of her huge contributions to the national economy.
“We must give peace a chance and the Federal Government must show sincerity of purpose and commitment for stakeholders to have confidence in her and Mr. President should personally lead the dialogue process to engage critical stakeholders to achieved lasting peace,” he added.
