Current starvation unprecedented in Nigeria’s history— IPOB

—The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has described the current level of starvation in the country as unprecedented in the history of the country.
IPOB said that there had never been a time when parents were exchanging their children for bags of rice out of desperation or pots of soup being stolen while still boiling, adding that this was why security agencies were creating comic relief by forming bogus splinter groups of IPOB or others Biafran associations to divert people’s attention.
Buhari
In a statement issued yesterday entitled, “An Uninspiring Melodrama,” and signed by IPOB Spokespersons, Emma Mmezu and Dr Clifford Iroanya, the organisation stressed that instead of finding solutions to a panacea to the spate Nigerians were hanging themselves and dropping suicide notes for President Muhammadu Buhari, the security agencies, especially the Department of State Services, DSS, were busy distracting Nigerians with tales of purported divisions in IPOB.
The statement read in part, “We have it on authority, that the decision to use the DSS to entertain Nigerians on purported factions in the great IPOB was taken at the presidency, in order to humour starving citizens, and take their minds away from the killings and excruciating poverty ravaging the land.
“The writers of the comedy of splinter groups in the indomitable IPOB, know that their childish storyline is not believable, but went ahead to amuse the world for some reasons:
“One, they wrote a request for approval of a huge imprest to create imaginary splinter groups, so they could make some money for themselves as times are so hard. The security operatives are at a loss how to pay school fees and feed their families at this period of great hunger in the land.
“The fact remains, that the idiotic choice of attempting to create imaginary splinter groups is a total waste of time, energy and resources.
“It is lost on the public, how the actors in this melodrama are the only people yet to note that they are only making compound fools of themselves.
“This development, says so much, about the quantity, calibre and intelligence of the characters who run the intelligence services. What a tragedy.”
We’ll celebrate 17 years of agitation—Uwazuruike
In another development, the founder of Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB and leader of Biafra Independence Movement, BIM, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike has said that MASSOB would proudly celebrate its 17 years of non-violent agitation for independence of Biafra in all the senatorial districts across the Biafra land which included South-East and Niger Delta areas.
He said that during the celebrations which is expected to take place on Tuesday, September 13, this year, prayers would be offered through a non-denominational church service in the morning, while a peaceful procession by MASSOB-BIM members follows later in the day.
In a press statement issued by the BIM’s Director of information and member of Biafra Elders-in-Council, Mazi Chris Mocha, Uwazuruike expressed satisfaction that MASSOB-BIM since its inception have never recorded any proven incidence where violence was traced to the organization, insisting that he adopted the principle of non-violence and non-exodus to guide the struggle and to avoid jeopardizing the huge investments of Ndigbo in Nigeria.
According to Uwazuruike, “on 13 September 13, 1999, following the formal inauguration of MASSOB on September 9, 1999, by the Igbo National Council of Chiefs, the movement embarked on its first public rally in Lagos which was of course based on the principle of non-violence and non-Exodus.”
Identifying the theme of this year’s anniversary as: “MASSOB-BIM; 17 years of non-violence and non-exodus”, the statement quoted Uwazuruike as saying in a meeting he held with MASSOB/BIM leaders at Ojukwu Memorial Library (auditorium), New Owerri, Imo state capital that he wished himself, the National leader of MASSOB, Chief Solomon Ordu Chukwu and the emerging new Biafra Republic long life and a happy celebration.”
