Kung fu master Jackie Chan to receive lifetime achievement Oscar

Jackie Chan’s high kicks elevated him to a respectable place in the film industry. The
Chinese kung fu star will receive a lifetime achievement Oscar, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Thursday.
The martial arts expert who made his movie debut at the age of 8, as well as three other Hollywood veterans, will get honorary Oscar statuettes in recognition of their lifetime contributions to films in November.
62-year-old Chan starred in dozens of martial arts films and went on to huge international success with hits like Rumble in the Bronx, the Rush Hour franchise, and the animation film Kung Fu Panda.
Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs described the four as "true pioneers and legends in their crafts."
The award will also be handed to editor Anne Coates, casting director Lynn Stalmaster and documentary maker Frederick Wiseman.
